fairy tail hiro mashima new project

It’s all going down in the land of Fairy Tail and the related this week. Not only can we see a tease of Hiro Mashima’s brand new project, but there’s news of a Fairy Tail sequel manga and an eagerly awaited update on the anime’s final season too.

While info on Mashima’s new manga remain frustratingly sketchy, Kodansha Comics shared a similarly sketchy preview of the series to ease our impatience. Check the preliminary art below and drink in all the details. It’s still a while to wait till that launch date of June 27th.

In the meantime though, our favourite kooky fantasy mangaka will be supervising a sequel to his original Fairy Tail manga. Taking on this role will mean he’ll be going nowhere near the return series’ art, but with an illustrator still to be announced, Weekly Shonen Magazine gave a brief outline of the story. This ‘second season’ will jump ahead to tell a future tale, which will nonetheless be connected with the final chapter of the original manga. Beyond that tantalising taster, we’ll have to watch this space for now.

Finally, it’s been confirmed that the Fairy Tail anime’s third and final series will be airing come this fall. Just as we’d all hope to hear, the full cast and staff will return for the show’s last hurrah. So, Shinji Ishihira is back at A-1 Pictures and Bridge to direct a cast starring Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu, Aya Hirano as Lucy, Rie Kugimiya as Happy, Yuichi Nakamura as Gray, and Sayaka Ohara as Erza. As Happy would say, yes sir! We’re so ready for one last quest.
