Crunchyroll to co-produce new anime content with WEBTOON
In its latest partnership reveal, Crunchyroll has announced that it’s teaming up with the comics publisher WEBTOON. The streaming service plans to adapt some of WEBTOON’s most popular manga-inspired series as brand new and original animated content.
Specific titles up for adaptation are yet to be revealed, but top contenders include True Beauty by rising K-manga star Yaongyi, unORDINARY by uru-chan and Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe. Korean manga (or manhwa) in particular seems a market the ‘Roll has its eyes on. There’s most certainly a bounty to be found there, as very few Korean manga have been adapted as anime. But watch this space and perhaps we’ll see some fan favourites announced for the anime treatment in the near future.
Sounds promising!
