Fans are key to the creation of crowdfunded anime Mokuri

Made in Abyss illustrator Akihito Tsukushi and Kemono Friends producer Yoshitada Fukuhara are currently crowdfunding an anime, and they want the fans involved. Mokuri has been in the works for about a year, and will follow the adventures of the cute titular character and her buddy Noinoi, who looks like nature come to life.

On their travels together, Mokuri and Noinoi will sometimes bump into ‘pioneers’. That’s where the otaku come in. Supporters of the crowdfunding effort will be called upon to create these characters and their backstories for the anime.

This sounds as sweet as it looks, and if you want in there’s still time. The crowdfunding stands at 50% of its five million yen goal, and anyone can head over to Makuake and contribute.
